Church History

Clayton Chinese Christian Church began in 1979, founded by a small group of overseas Chinese students who sought to share the Gospel and build a Christian community among the growing Chinese population in Melbourne. The early church started through Bible studies and fellowship gatherings focused on providing spiritual support in a Mandarin- and Cantonese-speaking context.

As the congregation grew, the church transitioned from informal gatherings into an established church community, eventually securing a rented church hall and later purchasing a permanent site to accommodate its expanding ministry.

From its beginning, CCCC has been shaped by a strong commitment to evangelism, discipleship, and community building. While it has strong roots in serving Chinese-speaking communities, it has always been a church for all people—not limited by ethnicity or background—and continues to welcome and embrace people from many nations and cultures.

Over time, the church developed structured ministries, including English-speaking services and youth programs, to serve second-generation members and the wider community.

Today, Clayton Chinese Christian Church is a bilingual, intergenerational congregation that continues to emphasise Bible-based teaching, multicultural ministry, and outreach. It holds regular Mandarin and English services, including combined worship and communion services, reflecting its ongoing vision of unity in Christ across languages and cultures.
